Pi Writing Program held in Applied Maths Dept of DU
The 14th of March is celebrated globally as the ‘International Pi Day’; the Department of Applied Mathematics of Dhaka University conducted a unique 'Pi writing' program on Tuesday. Under this program in collaboration with the country's top paints solution brand Berger, students of the organizing department painted pie standards on the roads of the university's Ganit Bhaban (Mathematics Building), Shaheed Minar, Jagannath Hall, Fuller Road, VC Chatwar and TSC in the adjoining areas, covering a total of 3.1416 km of roads. Through this exceptional arrangement, the teachers and students of the department also expressed hope of getting their name in the Guinness Book of World Record.
Tanzin Alam, Chief Marketing Officer of Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited, a partner organization of the event, said, “This kind of event undoubtedly motivates the students. Such innovative development and record breaking enthusiasm among students gives us hope for the future. Berger Bangladesh has encouraged such events in the past as well and will stand by the young generation in any such event in the future."
A festive mood spreads among the students around the Pi writing program with colorful hands. The program was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman. The Dean of Science Faculty of the University, Md. Abdus Samad; Chairman of the Department of Applied Mathematics Professor Dr. Md. Shawkat Ali; Additional Director General of National Board of Revenue (Duty Exemption and Drawback Office) Dr. Md. Saeed Sharif Russell; Category Manager, Tajul Islam and Berger Paints Bangladesh were also present at the opening ceremony..
